Kana Labs is happy to announce the launch of “Furnace” — a community lead online hackathon event that we are co-sponsoring with other like-minded builders from the Aptos ecosystem. This is a ten-day-long virtual event where teams from across the world can participate and build new projects on the Aptos blockchain network. This is an opportunity for blockchain and dApps builders from across the globe to connect with experienced mentors from various projects on the Aptos ecosystem and learn to build using Move and push the ecosystem forward together. The hackathon is led by Ferum — an on-chain order book DEX from the Aptos ecosystem alongside other notable projects such as Pontem Network, Tsunami Finance, Aries Networks, Zellic, and Rise wallet to name a few. Each of these sponsors specialises in one or more areas such as Wallets, DEX, Margin trading, Oracle, Code Testing, Liquidity aggregation and smart contract development to name a few. The hackathon started on 15.02.2023 and ends on 26.02.2023. You can register for the event from this “here” and interact with various teams and projects during the daily workshops.
All participants will spend nearly a week building online, with workshops conducted by our sponsors, and submit a simple demo or submissions on the last few days on a public Discord Forum. There are exciting rewards in form of cash rewards and grants worth nearly US$ 50K for the winners. Projects or teams which manage to impress the sponsors during this event will be supported and incubated with various aids in form of financial investments and knowledge resources by the sponsors as the teams go on to further develop their projects/ideas. The rewards are awarded individually by various sponsors who are organizing this hackathon. Each sponsor has their own reward pool with the largest of them being offered by Ferum — “US$ 15,000”, Kana Labs — “US$ 10,000” and “US$ 5,000” from each of these projects — Aries markets, Rise and Pontem wallet. Please note that each Sponsor has offered guidelines such as project ideas that could be built during the hackathon, sponsor-specific resources to be used and mandatory requirements met when teams develop their projects to be qualified for the rewards. The requirements of each sponsor can be found in the prizes section of the Furnace hackathon site.
Here at Kana Labs, we specialise in cross-chain middleware as we work to simplify DeFi and reduce the entry barriers for both users and developers. Our SDK middleware consists of three core components — liquidity aggregation, cross-chain bridging layer and a smart routing algorithm combined into one to ensure that our customers get the best price on all their transactions with fast transaction processing time and low transaction rates. Our middleware sits on top of multiple blockchains — Aptos, Solana, Polygon and Neon EVM at the bottom, while builders can easily build their dApps on top of our middleware. Because we are already connected to various blockchain ecosystems, developers now don’t have the necessity to study these blockchains and their core language and architecture in detail. You can use the most common programming languages such as Java and Python to build your dApps on top of our SDK and directly deploy them on multiple blockchain networks simultaneously.
We at Kana Labs are looking for teams who can make use of our SDK middleware to come up with exciting dApps and projects. You can check out our lite paper and products and services in detail in our “documentation” section. Here is an example of our SDK code being used to enable cross-chain staking on Solana → https://docs.kanalabs.io/sdk-integration/example-hackathon. The code here allows users to perform staking on the Solana network using APT tokens from the Aptos blockchain. Please use SDK version → 0.0.17 for developing your projects. In case of queries, you can reach out to mentors from our team via the “mentors page” and/or reach us via email at hello@kanalabs.io. Some of the project ideas which we hope the teams could build include — Margin trading, Cross-Chain lending and borrowing and arbitrage trading bots. The winner of the grand prize from Kana Labs receives US$6K in monetary reward alongside 8 hours of code review from Zellic while the runner-up’s project receives US$ 4K.
“Only in the hottest of fires will the best DeFi projects be forged”.
That’s all folks!!! Have fun learning and experimenting with building on Aptos!!!!!
